Vandring
Laufenburg was first mentioned in a document in 1207. For centuries, fishing (Salme) and rafting were important industries in the town. In 1802 Napoleon ceded the Fricktal to the Helvetic Republic. The canton of Fricktal was created. But as early as 1803, the Fricktal was assigned to the newly founded canton of Aargau.

Laufenburg on the Rhine is really a beautiful town, with many small streets, squares, courtyards and fountains. On the Swiss side you have to climb the Schlossberg, climb the stairs to the tower when you get to the top and enjoy the view. Also on the Schlossberg you can look down at the intricate roofs of the city from a viewing point at the height of the church tower.
Unfortunately, many of the beautiful restaurants on the Swiss side have disappeared in recent years, making the huge selection on the German side all the more inviting
