The church was probably built in the 16th century, but the exact date of its construction is unknown. It is also not certain what kind of construction it was made of. It looks like brick, but the preserved historical description speaks of a half-timbered construction. It is possible that it was originally half-timbered and then bricked on both sides. A major renovation combined with partial reconstruction was carried out in the 1870s.
