Beautiful little monastery, was founded by the Hieromonch Chrysanthos Syropoulos, who came to Corfu with his brother from Lefkada to found a monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Here is the tomb of Ioannis Kapodistrias and other important figures of the Greek Revolution.

This Greek Orthodox monastery was founded in 1741 and completed in 1743, during the last period of Venetian rule on Corfu.
Ioannis Kapodistrias is buried here. He was the first head of state of Greece after its independence from the Ottoman Empire.
The airport on Corfu is named after Ioannis Kapodistrias. He is also immortalized on the Greek 20-cent coin.
