On the main road is the monastery's old mill, which was in operation until the beginning of this century. The mill's blades were locked in the shape of a cross in memory of Christian Michael Rottbøll, who was killed in the fight for freedom during World War II. He was the uncle of the current owner, who is the 6th generation of the Rottbøll family to own and look after Børglum Monastery with his family.
On the north side of the mill hill, which is actually a burial mound, is St. Bodil's Spring.

This Dutch windmill stands on a hill opposite the monastery. The gallery-style windmill once processed the estate's grain. Disused since 1935, the (restored) mill's blades have been in a cross position since September 26, 1942, after the Rottbøll family, who owned the estate, learned that the Danish police had shot 25-year-old Christian Michael Rottbøll; he was the head of the English special forces in the resistance against the German occupation. The current owner of Børglum is his nephew.
