Mount Kuromidake with a height of 1831 is one of Yakushima's highest points. In a sunny day you can enjoy a beautiful 360 degree view of the island. Good idea is to take a little break to have a snack before descending.

This hike is a must do on a sunny day. The trail involves rock climbing at many points, a rope is already installed for climbing. The risk of skidding is great during a downpour. The ascent is sometimes steep. The markings are made of pink ribbons, and make hiking easier. The loop from the park entrance to the summit is 6 hours. But you have to think about photo exposure times in front of the sugis, thousand-year-old cedars. In summer, the descent must be completed by 7 p.m., sunset time.
