The bullring was built between 1850 and 1860 on the site of an old bullring in the city. The model for the building's architecture was the Roman Colosseum. Today the arena serves as a location for international events.

The Plaça de Bous in Valencia was built by the Valencian architect Sebastià Monleón Estellés between 1850 and 1860. It is in neoclassical style, inspired by Roman civil architecture.
