In the center of the province of Ciudad Real is Torralba de Calatrava. Historically it belongs to the Campo de Calatrava and orographically it is part of the western plain of La Mancha, a large geological depression filled with marl, clay and sandstone.

In the northern part of its term, the Guadiana river crosses along with the La Posadilla, Morillas and Pellejero streams, which with their floods caused so many shocks in past centuries.
