With a culture steeped in both Norse and Scottish history, Shetland is truly a place like no other and for this reason an essential stop on any cruise ship's itinerary.
Berths and anchorages
Larger vessels are anchored and passengers can easily be transported by launch to dedicated mooring pontoons in a sheltered dock adjacent to the town centre, where safe assembly areas are available.
There are dedicated embarkation and disembarkation areas for shore excursions in close proximity to all berths.
Mayers Pier can accommodate vessels up to 240m in length.

The strategic proximity of the Lerwick harbor to the northern North Sea oil production facilities, the Atlantic fishing grounds and its location in the center of the Shetland Islands has led to heavy traffic from oil industry vessels, fishing fleets, recreational craft and cruise ships.
