The Chichicastenango Cemetery is popularly known as the "Cemetery of Colors". The residents of the place belong to the indigenous Quiché ethnic group and the colors symbolize different aspects: while white symbolizes the loss of parents, yellow is used when an old man dies and blue when a mother dies.
