Karlstad is conveniently located between Oslo, Stockholm and Gothenburg. Located on the shores of Lake Vänern, the city and its region enjoy a fairly sunny climate.

It was almost completely destroyed in 1865 by a terrible fire which left only a few buildings. This explains the large avenues and the many buildings dating from the time of its reconstruction. You will find many works of art including the Sola statue, one of the symbols of the city.
