It is a good safe place to park. I found some of the locals friendly and wanted to chat. Despite being a small village, there always seemed to be someone passing by within sight.

Kirk Yeltholm is notable for being the northern end of the Pennine Way, and the southern end of the Cape Wrath Trail.
The Border Hotel pub house is the official end of the Pennine Way, and there are a pile of used shoes outside to signify this milestone.
