Schlaining Castle has been called "Friedensburg" Schlaining for several years - it was never conquered. In addition, the exhibition "100 years of Burgenland" took place there, which I visited and was very interesting and shows the diversity of this youngest federal state.
Lockenhaus Castle is again known for the Blood Countess, who is said to have drunk the blood of young girls after murdering them. Her name was Elizabeth Bathory and she was convicted in 1611 but died of natural causes in her cell. Bloodthirsty Middle Ages!
