Altnaharra is a beautiful little hamlet set in expansive scenery, close to Loch Lairg, in the Sutherland region of North Scotland. There's a hotel and petrol station here so it makes a great place for an overnight stay or a shorter stop to quench your hunger or thirst.

Cykling

No matter which direction you come to get to Altnaharra, it goes downhill. The descent with the beautiful view of the impressive landscape is a real highlight. Arriving in the tranquil hamlet, you can treat yourself to a cozy break in the hotel. There is a bar. The hotel also has a gas station.

A small hamlet in the beautiful, rugged far north of Scotland on the A836 between Lairg and Tongue. Remote and beautiful, the local weather station sometimes records the coldest temperatures in the UK!
