Girdle Ness Lighthouse sits on the Girdle Ness peninsula near Aberdeen's harbour entrance. The lighthouse was constructed in 1813 after a whaling ship sunk, leaving only two survivors from a crew of 45.

The light was automated in 1991. With a range of 22 nautical miles (35 km), it still guides boats today.

From here you have a great view of the white lighthouse of Aberdeen. And if you're looking for an exceptional place to stay, this lighthouse is just the thing, because here you can stay overnight in the lighthouse keeper's old but renovated apartment.
