The construction of the temple began in 1859. As a result of repression after the January Uprising, the building was seized by the tsarist authorities and handed over to the Orthodox Church. Hence the unusual architecture for a Catholic building.
In 1921, after regaining independence, the temple returned to the Catholic Church and was adapted to the liturgy in this rite.
The building is entered into the register of monuments.
