Groeperkade is the second retaining quay in the Grebbelinie, after the Slaperdijk. Together they enclose the Group Bowl. Its function was to turn the water that was allowed through the locks in the Slaperdijk and was stopped by the locks in the Groeperkade, so that the area could be inundated.
