Sitting on the border of Galway close to Connemara the village is home to some of Irelands most ancient monuments and circles from the Neolithic era.
Cong Abbey consists of the ruins of a former Augustinian abbey that mostly dates back to the 13th century. It is seen as one of the finest examples of medieval ecclesiastical architecture in Ireland.
