The Pestkapelle lies above the Ehrwalder Alm and was built in 1643 by peasants in 1643 in memory of the plague year.

Plague Chapel on the Ehrwalder Alm.
When the plague claimed many lives in Ehrwald in 1634, the residents wanted to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Blood in Seefeld. However, they were forced to turn back at the border with Leutasch by angry and armed Leutasch residents so that the plague would not be brought to them as well. The Ehrwald residents then held a prayer on the spot and vowed to build a chapel there.
