Perched high above the valley, Fort de l’Olive guards the flanks of Vallee de la Claree. Built in the late 19th century, this stone fortress once controlled the mountain passes between France and Italy. Today, it stands empty but imposing. The climb here is long, the view wide.

Impressive structural achievement (albeit too dubious purpose) in alpine environment. Great view of the Vallée de la Clarée and the surrounding mountains and Cols.
