The Serra d'Irta presents a rich historical heritage, including Arab constructions such as the castles of Xivert and Polpis, and the watchtowers of Badum and Ebrí; that show the ancient human occupation and its military nature. The castles, built in the 10th-11th century, underwent various restorations at the hands of the Almoravids, and Christian orders such as the Order of the Temple and the Order of Montesa.

From the town the first half the paths are smooth. One past the lighthouse, the path transitions into a gravel road. It can be a bit rough here and there, which makes it in my opinion a fun ride, but not to difficult.
