The parish church was built in the period from 1886 to 1889. The Paderborn Auxiliary Bishop Augustinus Gockel consecrated it in 1893.

Due to the increasing population in Leinefelde, the old church became too small despite the extensive renovation. After the efforts of the pastor at the time, the three-aisled, neo-Gothic New Church was built in 1886 and also consecrated to the patron saint of St. Mary Magdalene. The church was established at the beginning of the 20th century. The installation of the high altar and the construction of an outdoor crossroad were special. The baptismal font was taken over by the old church. The church has a 56 meter high tower with a pointed roof.
