Isil is a town that is located in the upper course of the Noguera Pallaresa, at an altitude of 1,164 meters, on both banks of the river and on a small island that forms in that place, where the church is attached to the town by a bridge on each side of the church square.

It is located right at the southern entrance to the town of Isil, and was used to access the territory on the left of the Noguera Pallaresa, the river that crosses this bridge.
Specifically, it connects the eastern part of the town with the island that Noguera Pallaresa forms in this section and where the Immaculada church is located. On the contrary, the bridge that connects this island with the western part of the town is modern.

Isil, formerly also called Gil, is a town in the municipality of Alt Àneu, in the region of Pallars Sobirà. Houses, streets and bridges appear as a result of the passing of the years and with an architectural culture of this area of Catalonia.
