At the beginning of the 20th century, the Hessian state government had water tanks built and pipes laid to supply the villages all over Rheinhessen.
From 1900 to 1909 the lines were relocated to Neu-Bamberg. The water house or reservoir was completed in 1910. However, only the houses below could be supplied. It was not until 1955 that the higher-lying houses also got their water connection through an electric pump. The reservoir was used until 1970.

During dry summers, bottlenecks in the water supply used to occur time and again in the Rhenish-Hessian villages. It happened that the streams had little or no water and the wells dried up. Sometimes the water had to be fetched from the Rhine and carted into the villages in barrels. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Hessian state government had water tanks built and pipes laid to supply the villages all over Rheinhessen.
