The urbanization is a residential marina built next to Els Graells beach and around an extensive network of artificial channels in the image of those existing on the coast of France (Port-Grimaud) and Florida (United States), a model inspired by Venice, and which repeats what had been developed in neighboring Santa Margarida (Roses) since 1960. It is currently considered the largest residential marina in the world.

In 1967 the construction of the first canals and houses began, as a source of inspiration for similar projects such as the one in Florida, which emulated models such as that of the city of Venice.
