The mining town of San Diego was built in the 1940s to house the workers of the iron mine that was located in the area. Today, the town is abandoned and in ruins, but it is still possible to appreciate the typical architecture of the time and visit some of the buildings that are still standing, such as the church or the cinema. The mining town of San Diego is an example of the industrial history of the region and a testimony of Almería's mining past.
