Historical sovereignty stones are witnesses to the past that show us how the borders between the former rulers were. They provide information about power relationships and their consequences that extend to our time.
This stone was probably made in the middle of the 17th century. set and marked a piece of the border between the Nassau office and the Electorate of Mainz.

In the southeast of the town of Bad Ems, on the western side of the Lahn cycle path, near the confluence of the Wiesbach stream, north of the sports field named after it, stands a historic boundary stone from the first half of the 18th century.

This historical boundary stone right by the wayside is probably from the 17th century and marked the border between the three-ruled Amt of Nassau and the Electorate of Mainz.
Small and unassuming, but with a plaque explaining the history. For those interested in history...
