During the Bernese invasion, the town's castle was destroyed in 1589, its castle chapel became a church and was enlarged using the stones of the demolished building.
At the end of the 20th century, the condition of the Saint-Martin church deteriorated more and more. In 2016, it benefited from a major global restoration campaign, during which frescoes dating from the 12th and 14th centuries were discovered.
