New York's first airport. Built at the end of the 1920s, the airport could not compete with Newark, which is in New Jersey but is better connected to Manhattan. The space was used for a number of records, and Lufthansa's FW 200 Condor also landed here after the non-stop flight from Berlin. The site was later used to train military pilots. Currently you can still see the tower and some old hangars where the Coast Guard still operates a base. However, most of the area is now a nature reserve.

Beautiful old main buildings of a truly historic airport in New York City. Unfortunately, the hangars are falling into increasing disrepair. As New York City's first airport, it has sadly reached the end of its service life.
