In Plombières (Bleyberg in German) lead was mined from the 14th century to 1922. A small monument was erected here to commemorate the former mine.

This site was inaugurated in 2005. This mining cart symbolizes the mining activities in this area. In the Maison du site Minier (also on this site, indicated on the information board) there is a permanent exhibition about the history of Plombières and the evolution of the mining site into a nature reserve.

From there you can get to the nature reserve, which is located directly behind the community center. Former slag heap of an old lead ore production, one encounters the corresponding flora (metallophytes) there today, which thrive on these poisoned soils and are very rare.
With a bit of luck, one can spot the rare, protected blue-winged grasshopper that is tied to such sites in the summer.
It is worth devoting 1-2 hours to the area and enjoy the peace and quiet. Along the Göhl, past the side arm to the man-made underpass of the stream through the ridge.
