Givet is the last river town on the Meuse River before Belgium, in the heart of the Ardennes. It owes its significant urban and historical heritage to its strategic location.

On the Meuse, not far from the Belgian border, from the Meuse bridge (pont de Meuse) you can admire the beautiful harmonious Givet, with its beautiful facades, the Victory Tower, the Saint Hilary Church (église Saint-Hilaire) and the perched fortress. The impressive fortress of Charlemont, which dominates the valley, was built by Charles Quint in the 16th century, then reinforced by Vauban in the 17th century. At the bottom of the castle is the Victory Tower (tour Victoire), former keep of the castle of the Counts of la Marck, dating from the 14th and 15th centuries.
