Here you are on the border between Thuringia and Bavaria. Visiting the place would have been unthinkable more than 30 years ago. Old boundary stones and an old watchtower are still there.

The GDR border posts were markings of the state border of the GDR and were first erected on the inner-German border in autumn 1967. The location was initially about one meter behind the border line, later they were moved back about 5 to 10 meters on GDR territory. (Source: Wikipedia)
