Very close to Hvolsvöllur, the Ytri-Rangá River plunges into Ægissíðufoss, a wide and easily accessible waterfall. Its curtain-like fall, surrounded by meadows, is a perfect spot for a peaceful stop en route through southern Iceland. Locals adore it for salmon fishing, and on clear days the view is graced by the Hekla volcano in the background. Close to nature, uncrowded, and with the charm of authenticity.
