The Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte is the highest mountain hut in Austria and is also called the Eagle's Nest. Surrounded by the Hohe Tauern National Park, the hut is located at 3,454 meters below the Glockner summit. From here, the climb to the summit of the Grossglockner takes about an hour and a half. If you spend the night at the Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte, you will be rewarded with a sensational sunset.
The hut is open from June to September and offers overnight stays in the camp or in rooms.

Vandring
At 3454m, the Erzherzog-Johann-Hütte, located on the Adlersruhe, is the highest refuge in Austria. It is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, right on the state border between Tyrol and Carinthia.
The hut is particularly popular as a base for the normal climb, as the climb to the summit of the Großglockner from here only takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Due to the unique location on the rock head of the Adlersruhe, the view of the surrounding mountains is overwhelming.
