The spectacular complex was built around 1160 as the Kuenringer manor house and is located on the summit of the Keller hill in Gaiselberg. 3 ramparts and deep ditches surround the central local mountain. On the inner hill stood a "solid house", from which the name "local mountain" derives. During this time, earth stables were also dug into the mountain.

Mountainbiking
It is the largest and best-preserved local mountain in Austria. Its current appearance is characterized by a core structure with a triple wall and ditch system. The excavations indicate that the earliest structure was built around 1160, probably by the Kuenringers. Around 1240, the structure was further expanded and now consisted of a triple ring wall and a "fortified house" with stone foundations. These buildings even survived a fire that broke out around 1400. The structure served as the seat of the Kuenringers until 1350.
