Gauerslund Church is located high up, roughly in the middle of Gauerslund municipality. The church's choir and part of the nave were built in the 12th century in Romanesque style from ashlars, making it one of the country's very old churches. Over time, it has been rebuilt and remodeled several times.
The church was at some point extended westward by 9.5 meters and the burial chapel, porch and tower were added. The most recent addition is the tower, which was built in 1918 when the old tower had cracks in the same place and was therefore demolished.
