The "Steimel" with its height of 333 meters is the local mountain of the city of Wirges, which is sung about in a song like "Wirges, treasure at the foot of Steimels, you are only greeted by my heart, O, how my soul grows wide, all loneliness flees from me ”.
In 1865 a three-sided closed Marienkapelle with roof turret was built, which can be reached via a way of the cross with 14 ring-shaped station pictures of a way of the cross. From there you have a beautiful view of the city of Wirges with its Westerwald cathedral.
