    In 1910, 99.7% of the residents were German speaking.
    After the First World War, Guldenfurt became part of the newly formed Czechoslovakia. In 1938, after the Munich Agreement, the town became part of the German Reich and became part of the Reichsgau Niederdonau. Of the men drafted into World War II, 126 died or went missing. At the end of the war, Guldenfurt was reassigned to Czechoslovakia. Some of the German-speaking local residents fled across the border to Austria or were expelled there.
