Its historic center has many buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries testifying to its past as a medieval city. The name Bourg-de-Péage comes from the duties that were levied on goods at the southern entrance to the bridge. At the Pogne Pascalis museum, a famous brioche dating from the Middle Ages, it is possible to visit the workshops where Pognes and St-Genix are made and taste them. Also worth seeing is Maison Favor, dating from 1830.
