The volcanic crater Kerið in southwest Iceland is a picturesque crater with a bright blue crater lake at its centre. The steep slopes are made of red volcanic rock and are covered with lush green in places.

Anyone passing by the crater should definitely take a walk around the crater rim. You can also go down the steps to the lake and walk around it. The entrance fee is 500 ISK per person, parking is available

The path around the crater is relatively easy and also suitable for younger people, provided they are sure-footed and keep away from the crater rim. Be careful of small stones under your shoes, which can make you slip. Be careful on ice or slippery surfaces. The steps down to the lake appear relatively new and are very easy to walk on.
