You can see the Schöllanger Castle Church coming from far away. It stands on a steep forest ridge, behind which tower majestically the mountains. If you are going on a tour between Oberstdorf and Fischen, it can be wonderfully planned as a stopover.

The former parish church of St. Michael from the 13th century stands on a hill at 892 m.
From there you also have a beautiful view of the Illertal. The ascent of Fischen involves many steps and is very steep, but there is a driveway from the direction of Rubi

The church is located on a wooded slate slope southwest of the village Schöllang above the Illertal, which could have housed already in prehistoric times a cave shrine and later a rätische hilltop. The first written mention of the church on the Burgk dates back to 1351; the present form of the church is likely to date back to the beginning of the 15th century. Parts of the building are even older; during the transformation, parts of the early medieval predecessor building were included on the north and west sides.
