The Petruskerk is the Roman Catholic main church in Oirschot.
1627 the spire was destroyed by lightning strike, since then the church tower is dull. From 1648 to 1799 the church was in Protestant hands. In the 19th century the church was restored. Nevertheless, the church tower collapsed in 1904 partially. In 1944, the church suffered heavy damage from Allied bombardment. Reconstruction took place from 1945 to 1952. In 2013, it was given by Pope Benedict XVI. the title of a basilica minor.

The Oirschots Markt with the more than five centuries old St. Peter's Church (Basilica Minor) and the former town hall dating from 1513 is one of the most beautiful squares in Brabant. Many monumental buildings of a rich historical past. Oirschot has several museums.
