The church, built in 1653, is located on an old holy site, on which a torture column, three burial mounds and two linden trees already stood in the 16th century. A small chapel was built there from 1643 to 1645 and an old picture of the Virgin Mary was placed there. After the discovery of a healing spring, Weihenlinden developed into a pilgrimage, which came to Weyarn Abbey in 1650. Three years later, Provost Valentin built a large church over the older octagonal chapel, which was consecrated in 1657.

After the discovery of a healing spring, Weihenlinden developed into a pilgrimage that reached the Weyarn Monastery in 1650. Three years later, a large church was built over the older octagonal chapel by Provost Valentin, which was consecrated in 1657.
