Famous for its stunning landscapes formed by the canyons of the Sil and Miño rivers, as well as for its rich cultural and wine-making heritage. Known for its terraced vineyards, which are cultivated on steep slopes, the area produces quality wines under the Ribeira Sacra Denomination of Origin, with Mencía wines being particularly noteworthy.

It is also famous for its high concentration of medieval monasteries and hermitages, many of which date back to the 9th to 12th centuries, such as the Monastery of Santo Estevo or the Monastery of San Pedro de Rocas. These religious buildings gave the region its name, which means "sacred riverbank" due to its important monastic past.
In addition to its historical and wine-producing wealth, the Ribeira Sacra is a very popular natural destination for hiking, boat trips through the canyons and observing the impressive geography that surrounds it.
