At the Gehlenkreuz you have a wonderful view over the endless expanses of the Walloon Fens. The headwaters of the Rur are nearby.

The cross stands on the southern edge of the Walloon Fens, at the crossroads of the path leading to Bosgagne, at the site known as "Cwène do Bwès." The name derives from "Oneu." The Lorraine cross was erected in 1974 and bears the Latin inscription "O Crux Ave Spes Unica" – "O Cross, my only hope."
It was erected to mark the retirement of forest ranger Jean Gehlen; documents embedded in the stonework commemorate his work in the area, including the plantings along the southern edge of the fen in 1958.

Vandring
Arriving at the Gehlenankreuz from the direction of Sourbrodt, the hiker has a choice:
Either left slightly uphill in the direction of Signal de Botrange or right, slightly down the valley in the direction of the headwaters of the Vennbach Rur.
The latter is the absolutely nicer alternative. Later nature trails can be used to get to the hill. From the Hilltal there is later the possibility to continue the hike as part of a circular hike in the direction of Signal de Botrange. A branch in the direction of Noir Flohay is also possible.
