Riding south towards Moretonhampstead, this seemingly forgotten lane is incredibly steep, but really beautiful and leads to the most glorious stretch of tarmac.
From Clifford Bridge it pitches straight up, and I'd be really impressed if you could ride the whole way up. A gravel bike or mountain bike is best, as this lost lane is rough and a bit potholed, but not so bad that you can't avoid them. Pushing up between the banks and conserved woodlands, it's hard work but blissfully quiet.
