The Romanesque pilgrimage church "Maria zur Eiche" is probably the oldest church (8th / 9th century) in the Baden Main Franconia. Today it bears the name of its patron saint, Saint Vitus (Vitus).

Eichel probably owns the oldest church, a fortified church from the 9th century, in Main Franconia in Baden. Eichel was an independent municipality in the Tauberbischofsheim district office until it was incorporated into Wertheim in 1935. Since January 1st 1973 the place belongs to the Main-Tauber-Kreis.
