The Monopteros in the English Garden is a neoclassical circular temple on an artificial hill, built in the 1830s according to plans by Leo von Klenze. It offers a sweeping view over the southern part of the park to Munich's Old Town and is a popular vantage point. The Monopteros harmoniously combines architecture and landscape and is considered an expression of the 19th-century idealized conception of nature. Today, it is a striking landmark of the English Garden and a popular destination for walkers and photographers.

Vandring
The Monopteros is a popular meeting place for young and old. As a cyclist you have to cover the last few meters on foot. The view towards the Frauenkirche is worthwhile. Especially in the early morning or before sunset there is a soft, warm light here. In autumn there are often wafts of fog that make the mood.

Rotunda with columns, which, according to modern usage, unlike Tholos, has no cella - a closed interior. In Greek and especially Roman antiquity, the term could also be used for the Tholos. In ancient times Monopteroi served as a kind of canopy for a cult picture.
