Minister Stein Colliery

Founded in 1856, it was the last operating colliery in Dortmund.

Sinking operations began in 1871, and the first coal was mined in 1875.

By 1878, production had already reached 100,000 tons of coal.

In 1891, the two collieries Fürst Hardenberg in Dortmund-Lindenhorst and Minister Stein merged.

This allowed Minister Stein to be expanded into a large-scale shaft mine.

In 1926, a hammerhead winding tower was erected above Shaft 4, which at the time was the first steel winding tower in Germany designed for two equal production lines.
