The port of Badalona was developed to improve a coastal area previously dedicated to industrial use. With the improvement of the area of the Forum and the Río Besos, it was decided to improve the other end of the river, replacing the factories and companies on the seafront to increase the coastal area while maintaining a continuous coastline and promenade. In this context and with the demand in the area for recreational areas for the residents of Badalona, the Badalona port project was decided along with the rest of the improvement of the coastline of this city.

It has a capacity for 410 berths, for lengths ranging from 10 meters or less to 75 meters, with a sheltered area of 8.65 hectares and a depth of 11.5 meters and 145 meters wide at the mouth and 10 meters in the dock.
