Lužické Square and Plague Column in Rumburk
In the middle of Lausitzer Platz stands an early Baroque sandstone column with a statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary from 1681. It was built on the site of a pillory after a major plague epidemic. In 1713 there was another plague epidemic, so in the years 1724 - 1726 more statues of saints were added to the entire set.

Rumburg was founded before 1298. According to legend, there was a small castle on the salt road between Saxony and Lusatia in the Mandau valley, known as the Bohemian Netherlands. In 1681 a plague column of the Holy Trinity was built on the market square to commemorate the extinction of the plague.
